Dr. Deva Bhakta Shakya, Food Science Expert

Dr. Deva Bhakta Shakya holds a Ph.D. in Food Science from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK, and has over 50 years of work experience. His professional experience includes various roles in government, academia, and the private sector, including Executive Member of SMTQ Forum Nepal, Chairman of Standards, Metrology and Testing of Quality (SMTQ) Forum, Nepal, and Member of Advisory Committee, Federation of Nepalese Women Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal (FWEAN).

Dr. Shakya has held significant positions in various projects and initiatives, such as Enabling Environment Director for Knowledge-based Integrated Sustainable Agriculture in Nepal (KISAN) II Project of the USAID Feed-the-Future Program, Nepal Coordinator for the Policy Reform Initiative Project (PRIP), and Business Enabling Environment Manager for the Nepal Economic, Agriculture and Trade Project (NEAT Activity). He has also worked as an Independent Consultant and held various roles at Agro Enterprise Centre (AEC), Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCI), Nepal.

Dr. Shakya has been involved in various committees and boards, including Member of Central Agricultural Program Implementation Committee, Steering committee member of Commercial Agriculture Development Project (CADP/ADB Project), and Member of National Dairy Development Board. He has also served as a Board of Director for Commercial Agriculture Alliance (CAA/CADP-ADB) and Kalimati Vegetable and Fruits Market Development Board. His extensive experience spans over five decades, with a strong background in food science, technology, and agriculture.
