ABOUT FWEAN:
Federation of Woman Entrepreneurs’ Associations of Nepal (FWEAN) established in 2003 is a not-for-profit organization representing the collective efforts of women entrepreneurs in the economic progress of the nation and decision-making at national and international levels. With the vision to build the nation through socio-economic empowerment of Nepali women, FWEAN catalyzes the entrepreneurial ecosystem to build enabling environments for potential and existing women entrepreneurs.
As an apex body of Women Entrepreneurs’ Association of Nepal (WEAN), FWEAN currently has 61 subsidiary WEAN Chapters in all 7 provinces of Nepal and aims to gradually expand to all 77 districts. The core values that FWEAN believes in and promotes are Accountability, Ambition, Collaboration and Creativity. With a mission to inspire and empower women entrepreneurs and their businesses, FWEAN focuses on these four objectives:

The FWEAN Business Development Center (BDC) is a one-stop solution for all business services to guide and accelerate women entrepreneurs in Nepal. Whether in-person, by phone or online, women entrepreneurs can access most services from anywhere in Nepal. The services offered by the BDC include the 1) Help Desk (business registration, legal compliance, financial & HR audit, IP & trademark, branding & marketing strategies, business plans, business continuity plans etc), 2) Trainings & technical assistance (digital marketing, digital financial literacy, counselling & mentoring), 3) Signature digital platforms (Winbiz.com.np, FWEAN BDC app).
JOB SCOPE:
The BDC Manager, with supervision from the Executive Director of FWEAN, will play a key leadership role in ensuring results through business development services and other initiatives. The BDC Manager is responsible for overseeing the BDC’s implementation, administration, programs and strategic plan. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, partnerships development and community outreach. The position reports to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors of FWEAN.
JOB SPECIFICATION:
Qualified candidates will have the following credentials:
- Master’s degree in business administration, public administration, social development, or other relevant fields
- At least 4-5 years of growing a business or an organization, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Impeccable managerial and interpersonal skills with a proven record
- Recognized expertise in business development, private sector engagement and government collaboration
- Understanding of social and economic issues related to women entrepreneurship
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams under pressure in a diverse and dynamic environment
- Excellent written and oral communications skills in Nepali and English, including proposal development, report writing etc
- Proficiency in MS office package, Canva, basic IT skills and ability to quickly learn various digital platforms
- Proactive with a growth mindset, with the ability to adapt to changing demands
- Strong work ethic, with an ability to manage confidential data
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Delivering and accelerating results
- Lead the strategic direction and smooth operation of BDC, including overseeing key BDC initiatives like – WinBiz, FWEAN BDC App, FWEAN Bazaar, Help Desk, Business Development Services
- Envision, manage and promote the strategic direction of FWEAN in keeping with FWEAN’s mission, vision, objectives, guidelines, and policies
- Implement marketing strategy and build a strong customer base
- Build and improve partnership development for services, discounts, projects etc.
- Define resource needs and secure funds, including writing proposals as necessary
- Monitor, record and evaluate the performance of BDC activities and organization objectives, and report results to the Board, development partners, and the general public.
- Build a strong team for business development and support with recruitment, performance evaluation etc.
- Collaborate with the communications team in crafting and sharing stories of impact
- Work closely with finance team in too oversee and spprove financial plan, budget, monthly/quarterly and yearly financial reports to ensure sound financial health, and compliance to relevant rules and regulations
- Assume roles in new tasks and projects and support key FWEAN programs
- Fostering Relationships (Internal and external)
- Foster a productive environment for team members to learn, grow and create meaningful impact through program interventions
- Ensure all staff issues are addressed properly, efficiently and judiciously, and keep track of progress until resolved
- Work closely with the Board to obtain their guidance and approval per need. Also, provide necessary information and reports to the Board to ensure organizational growth in alignment with its mission, vision and objectives
- Plan and organize activities at national and sub-national levels to strengthen trustful collaboration among WEAN chapters and members
- Build and strengthen partnerships with local, national and international stakeholders (e.g. government, private companies, banks, universities, local communities, venture funds, NGOs and international development partners)
