ABOUT FWEAN

Federation of Woman Entrepreneurs’ Associations of Nepal (FWEAN), established in 2003, is a not-for-profit organization representing the collective efforts of women entrepreneurs in driving the economic progress of the nation and contributing to decision-making at both national and international levels. Guided by the vision of building the nation through the socio-economic empowerment of Nepali women, FWEAN works to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem and create an enabling environment for both aspiring and existing women entrepreneurs.

As the apex body of the Women Entrepreneurs’ Association of Nepal (WEAN), FWEAN has a nationwide presence across all 77 districts, with 76 WEAN Chapters and the central FWEAN office in Kathmandu, along with FWEAN Province Committees in all seven provinces. The organization is anchored in its core values of Accountability, Ambition, Collaboration, and Creativity.

With a mission to inspire and empower women entrepreneurs and their enterprises, FWEAN’s work is centered around four key objectives:

JOB SCOPE

The Business Development Center (BDC) and Enterprise Development Officer is responsible for coordinating and implementing comprehensive Business Development Services (BDS), enterprise support programs, and entrepreneurial ecosystem-strengthening initiatives aimed at enhancing the capacity, competitiveness, and sustainability of women-led enterprises in Nepal. The role plays a key function in fostering an enabling entrepreneurial environment by managing BDC operations, facilitating project activities, supporting digital and market integration, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring that women entrepreneurs receive high-quality services to grow and scale their businesses.

1. Business Development Services (BDS) Coordination

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate gender-responsive business development services—including training, mentoring, advisory support, and business clinics—through the BDC.
  • Conduct needs assessments to understand the challenges, opportunities, and sector-specific requirements of women entrepreneurs.
  • Design and implement tailored support programs in areas such as business planning, market research, product development, digital transformation, and financial management.
  • Facilitate linkages to markets, finance, technology, and relevant service providers to increase competitiveness and growth potential.

2. Project Coordination: Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Strengthening

  • Coordinate the implementation of activities under the Strengthening Entrepreneurial Ecosystem and Building Capacity of Women Entrepreneurs initiative.
  • Ensure timely delivery of capacity-building events, B2B linkages, value-chain development activities, and digitalization support.
  • Monitor progress against planned targets, indicators, and work plans.
  • Prepare periodic progress reports, documentation, case studies, briefs, and presentations for management, donors, and partners.

3. Membership Database & Information Management

  • Maintain and regularly update the membership database and entrepreneur profiles with accuracy, confidentiality, and completeness.
  • Use data analytics to categorize member needs and design targeted services.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance member engagement, satisfaction, retention, and service reach.

4. WINBIZ E-commerce Platform Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operation, management, and continuous improvement of the WINBIZ e-commerce platform.
  • Support women entrepreneurs in creating online shops, managing product listings, improving store performance, and adopting digital sales strategies.
  • Monitor platform analytics, troubleshoot issues, and strengthen digital visibility through basic marketing and promotional activities.

5. FWEAN Store & Inventory Management

  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of the FWEAN store.
  • Manage stock levels, coordinate restocking processes, and ensure consistency in product quality.
  • Liaise with producers, suppliers, and women entrepreneurs to maintain a smooth supply chain and product flow.

6. Trade Expos, Exhibitions & FWEAN Bazaar Coordination

  • Plan and coordinate trade expos, exhibitions, fairs, and promotional events.
  • Lead the organization of the FWEAN Bazaar—including logistics, stall allocation, vendor coordination, and participant management.
  • Promote events to improve visibility, networking, and market access opportunities for women-led enterprises.

7. Stakeholder Engagement & Ecosystem Strengthening

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with government bodies, private sector institutions, NGOs, financial institutions, and other ecosystem actors.
  • Represent FWEAN at meetings, conferences, workshops, and national/international platforms.
  • Collaborate with partners to leverage resources, share knowledge, and create integrated support pathways for women entrepreneurs.

8. Training & Capacity Building

  • Design, organize, and facilitate entrepreneurship development trainings, workshops, mentoring sessions, and incubation activities.
  • Develop training curricula, manuals, digital learning resources, and practical toolkits suitable for women entrepreneurs of diverse backgrounds.
  • Assess training effectiveness using feedback and M&E tools; recommend improvements for continuous learning.

9. Resource Management & Fund Mobilization

  • Manage budgets for BDC and project-related activities, ensuring efficient and transparent use of resources.
  • Track expenditures and maintain financial documentation in coordination with the finance team.
  • Identify potential funding opportunities and contribute to the development of grant proposals, concept notes, and partnership pitches.

10. Communication, Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain regular communication with the FWEAN team, partners, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders.
  • Prepare timely reports capturing outputs, outcomes, progress, and impact of BDC initiatives.
  • Produce communication materials such as newsletters, social media content, success stories, and promotional materials to highlight achievements and promote women-led MSMEs.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in business administration, entrepreneurship, sociology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a non-profit organization.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing women entrepreneurs.
  • Facilitation of Training will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication, networking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, database systems, and digital project management tools.
  • Experience managing or supporting e-commerce platforms and digital business operations.
  • Knowledge of enterprise development, financial literacy, marketing, value chains, and business advisory services.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, and networking abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines effectively.
